This is, quite by accident, the last drive I would take in this, my first and favourite car. I love the purr of the engine. It shortly hereafter died, frying the computer and the coil. Sadly, it's too much to fix it, plus next year's parking fee and the insurance are about $2000. It's being sold to a guy who wants to combine it with an identical one to make a restored Daytona. No matter how silly you think I am for saying so, this car is like family to me, like a brother. It never let me down, and seriously saved my life more than once with its incredible handling, enabling me to dart out of the way of people doing really dangerous and/or stupid things. Back in 1998, I tried it out and made it from 0-100km/h in about 6.5 seconds, which is awesome for a 2.2L 4-cylinder car. That is, one with a powerful turbo that ramped an otherwise 93hp engine up to somewhere around 180hp. This car still gets excellent mileage, and as much as 40mpg on the highway (once in Manitoba), although usually somewhat less. But for such a powerful car, it had fuel economy that easily rivalled economy cars. I drove the car very nursingly over the years to keep him alive as long as possible. I used the car to help me move, and help me he did. It was time for him to rest. He deserves it. I shall miss this car far more than I'd have expected. With this car alone, it's like a person to me. Goodbye, old friend. I hope your retirement is restful. I'll miss you.
